It ends govt shutdown (too bad politicians won’t separate out so many useless govt jobs from a few of the essential ones, butthen, the swamp knows that is by design to protect their useless jobs).
Trump is challenged in court and it ultimately goes to the SCOTUS. The Wall is either a) funded(benefit), or b) the power of the presidency is reduced- remember Obama got around his political opponents in congress by funding Obamacare with the same executive power that Trump would be using. No president would be able to use it again so freely. The playing field would be leveled before the next president takes over.
Ned, you’ve been calling for this for years. This could restore some balance to the govt with a boost to the badly weakened legislative branch. If not, at least it helps with border security - mostly in precedent - but a benefit nonetheless.
And remember when some libs chortled at us for focusing our vote on the SCOTUS choices pending in the 2016 election? We could do it back to them now, but real men don’t chortle.
For those libs wondering “why not be mad for Trump using it if you would like to see the power of the president curtailed?” The answer is my familiar refrain, “Your rules bitches!”. If the rule is available, then BOTH sides get to use it -not just you. At least there will be a semblance of balance if both sides are using it.
