The Dems just need to ask themselves: "Is the Constitution really a living, breathing document?...or not?"
If the Dems are right, and the Constitution is actually a living, breathing document that was never intended to stop the president from doing what he thought was good for the American people, then Trump is well within his powers to do this, and there is no crisis (or just a fabricated one, am I right?). At least he will be able to enforce the immigration laws. That will be a temporary victory for law and order and the sovereignty of the United States...until the Dems come into office and stop protecting our sovereignty again.
If conservatives are right, and the president's powers are supposed to be limited to only those express powers given to his office, then it will be harder for future progressive presidents to expand their powers if Trump is stopped. That is a more permanent victory for the Constitution.
(Of course, I assume progressives will just say that Trump was a singular case, and the Constitution is living breathing when they are in office...and if they succeed with that, then they will have made the Constitution into mere toilet paper for them to wipe their asses with).
I knew it would take someone like Trump to turn the Left around and get them talking about the Constitution. Actually, I thought it would take someone far worse. But, their political outrage about his tweety behavior has filled in the gap, and we didn't have to get someone as bad as I thought it would take.
