Many of these issues are bullshit. Sadly many dems want to take extreme positions in order to gain "credibility." They look at new house members who are making a splash, getting publicity and thinking that's the way to go. Like the "radicals" in the Black Power movement years ago they'll say outrageous things in order to be noticed, "Strokely Carmichael, H. Rap Brown? Hell, they're Uncle Toms." Some in the GOP experienced this when, afraid of being outflanked on the Right by the Tea Party, they jumped to the right.
Because SOME dems may champion these positions does not mean they will be planks in the Dem platform.
