A ballot harvester comes to the door of Cabrini Green apartment, and person who wants to vote Republican answers the door. They ask for the Mail in ballot they got in the mail so that they can fill it out (I’m not even addressing the many ballots they can get illegally from partisan election officials).
If the person says “no”, it is immediately known throughout the community. Their social standing and potentially their health is now at risk - THAT is the level of the peer pressure. Given that AA vote is 95% Dem, the people in the community have a very strong presumption of why the person said “no, I want to vote on my own”.
You actually rob this person of their civil rights.
