Alaska reimbursing its residents from oil drilling tax proceeds. This is a great idea and every national debt scold should get on board. In 2013, the Institute for Energy Research estimated that the federal government owns $150 trillion in energy reserves under federal lands, a figure far higher than our $22 trillion in national debt. Why don't we drill for those energy reserves and sell them so that we can provide our citizens with a basic income and pay off our national debt at the same time? Give me one good reason why not.
Better get used to hearing the name Andrew Yang. He already leads Booker, Gabbard, and Gillibrand, among others.
