The first episode was brilliant in it capturing the claustrophobia of a Soviet plant. Jared Harris absolutely nails it. I am sad it is only going to be five episodes.
It is another Western series. Sometimes it is tough to replicate what it was like with a bunch of Brits. The Irish coal miner was tough to listen to. And from a historian's point of view I did nit-pick at some of the portrayals. Boris Shcherbina in real life had the authority to tell the KGB to fuck off - including its chief. He was accountable to no one except Ryzhkov and Gorbachev himself.
