We have under 50 employees. Our insurance rates tripled (yes, 200% increase) over 10 years from 2000 to 2009.
From 2009 to 2016 it only went up another 30%.
Our experience was that the old underwriting system f'd over the little guy. It may have been that we had what insurance companies considered high risk employees. I don't know, but even if that were the case, should we encourage people to discriminate hiring based on health records?
The old situation and its increases were unbearable to us. I don't think Obamacare was a great solution, but Trump undermining it is not helping.
