I may even be a "deplorable" though I never voted for Trump, but here's my take:
1.) The greenhouse effect is real, it's why the earth is warm enough, but not too warm, to support life
2.) CO2 levels are higher than during pre-industrial times, mostly caused by human activity
3.) It's not a giant leap in logic that a higher concentration of a greenhouse gas might enhance the greenhouse effect
However, I've talked to scientists at NOAA and they'll admit (at least until they figure out where you're going with the discussion) that the relationship between CO2 levels and climate is very complex and poorly understood. In spite of that, they support multi-trillion dollar policy decisions to solve a problem that isn't well understood or may not even exist in any significant way.
I would add the following:
1.) Why in the world would 47 Democrat Senators vote "present" on the Green New Deal bill if they really believed there was compelling scientific evidence that we are about to experience a climate crisis? Granted this was McConnell forcing a show vote, but why would you be afraid to vote "yes" if you really believed in the crisis argument? It seems like you'd be afraid not to vote "yes".
2.) Why would alarmists support the Paris accord that gave China something like 30 years of ever increasing carbon output levels if they really thought we are about to experience a climate crisis? This doesn't seem like it would lead us down the path of solving the issue within the 12 years that AOC and others have decreed that we have left before we're all goners.
Maybe if the climate change alarmist side acted more consistent with the position they're taking and left out the ridiculous emotional arguments we could figure this out.
P.S. I'm probably a racist too because I think we should secure our borders.
