Apparently it is not a fault at all, technically - it's in the middle of the plate. The seismic activity is due to the plate readjusting - rising - after being suppressed by the trillions of tons of ice that were on top of it during the Ice Age. So eventually it will stop rising again.
Knock on wood...because if it rumbles again, "modern" Memphis is unprepared, to say the least.
