.......he leaked 4 documents to his Columbia law prof friend and told him to leak it to his contact at the NYT - confirmed in all testimonies.
.......he claimed that these documents were not the FBI's but instead his own personal property since they were secret notes he made during confidential meetings with the president.
.......The IG concluded that the documents were indeed govt property rather than his own, and they mentioned long standing precedent on this.
.......The IG noted that there was classified info on those documents - they classified after the memo was leaked because they didn't know that the documents existed until the leak.
.......The IG informed Comey of the classified info in the documents leaked immediately.
.......It turned out that Comey was keeping further copies of the documents in a safe in his home that contained the classified info which is illegal.
.......Once Comey learned that the documents were classified officially (since common sense failed him apparently), Comey never notified the DOJ of his copies in the safe, but hung on to them until he was investigated over years later.
He kept classified info in a nonsecure private location in is home (sound familiar?), and he failed to inform when he learned of its classification.
This is only one rule he broke, but it is irrefutable, and they are just going to give him a pass.
