Maybe on immigration, but that is just due to his dedication to the American laborer...a constituency ignored by the 2 parties until now.
Protectionism isn't a conservative issue, so I don't see him being "extreme" in a left-right sense there. And, again, that is to help his base...which is to say, union members who voted for Obama and then voted for him.
All the wars he's gotten us into?
All the evangelical issues he pushes?
I don't think so. He is pretty moderate on the left-right spectrum, so the GOP doesn't get rewarded for running a moderate.
I suspect he will be called extreme no matter what he does..because he picked the GOP nomination as being easier for an outsider to steal than the Dem nomination (and he was right). It's all politics.
