they want to improve their odds of winning in 2024. I'm a firm believer in the 'Two Party" system, and right now IMO the GOP is no longer interested in "Public Service"...they have the 'Polar Opposite' of that concept with a strangle hold on a Base that continues to block rational candidates...
More and more, I"m detecting dissatisfaction on this board with DJT from several right-of-center posters...so, I'm hopeful that by 2023, there will be decent Republican candidates that come to the fore...and that we all will have learned a civics lesson in how to evaluate candidates for our high offices.
In my mind there are still several other policy issues that need to be viewed as "common ground" and deserving of compromise by the GOP...just as Infrastructure was...so that the country can continue to move ahead...that will only happen when Trump is gone...and perhaps, Mitch McConnell...but that's another thread.
