is a deadly disease that can overwhelm our hospitals...more to that point, there are only a little more than 68K, non-federal Adult ICU beds in the entire U.S. along with finite numbers of staff and specialized equipment...(Google "Society of Critical Care Medicine"...United States Resource Availability for COVID-19)...these are Objective Facts that no amount of Subjectivity can change.
Consequently, it is of utmost importance that we, as a society, use every means available - but judiciously - to "stem the tide" of COVID infections, so as to preserve the viability of our Critical Care resources...otherwise, ALL citizens will be adversely affected...not just the COVID patients...I trust you appreciate this without further explanation.
While it's true that kids are the least vulnerable, they are not immune and needless morbidity or mortality...for want of simple measures like masking, social distancing, or proven safe vaccines...should not be accepted in a rational society...IMHO.
As for the concerns for "Lockdowns", the WHO also recognizes the deleterious effects of such measures and cautions judicious use, while encouraging alternatives, such as widespread testing, and focused isolations...kind of what we're doing right now...so one more lesson learned.
Bottom line...doing nothing is the worst course of action.
