He presents as the one of the least “man of the people” candidates I’ve ever seen. Comes across as the smarter than you, nerdy guy who was teacher’s pet. Hardly cultivates a prole appearance or demeanor. I’ve never seen any evidence that he puts down the proles though, or speaks of them as deplorables, or anything like that. If you have any, please share.
The military service motive criticism is particularly without basis. What if any facts do you have to support an opinion that he did it for political reasons? I have seen zero offered. I do know that place was very unsafe for any military even in a support role at that time. One of our scout leaders at the time got deployed there as a naval reserve supply officer. Came back in a box from one of the General’s IED’s. About as authentic as it gets. So even if there was such motive, which hasn’t been shown, he has earned respect by putting himself on the line.
He panders no more to blacks than any other D candidate. Haven’t heard him speak with the accent like Hills or Barry yet though.
I wouldn’t expect him as the mayor of SB to be talking frequently about SJ issues. His job is to manage the City and it’s problems. It’s a very nuts and bolts job in a city of that size. He clearly though has the authentic bona fides as a gay man to speak authentically to these issues.
You also cite zero facts to support a opinion that he “grovels” before the wealthy. Give me an instance, not an assertion. I doubt you can.
His brand of Christianity may be divisive to the fundamentalists, but it is as authentic to him as theirs is to them. Or are you saying he’s faking that as well for political reasons?
I’m also trying to understand your last paragraph. Are you saying that procreating makes politicians more honest as they have to answer to their kids? Perhaps a very few, but if you look at the vast majority of the creatures currently populating DC politics it makes zero difference. Plus, you do know that gay couples can adopt or have a surrogate bear their child?
