I live in a fairly foofoo suburb outside Detorit, but this is on the edge of farm land and tiny villages. I go for extremely long bikes rides in this countryside. I never thought Trump had a chance in the last election until I began to see a constant parade of Trump signs along my rides. These communities are fairly disconnected from the Yuppie world I live in and are probably filled with Hillary's deplorables. I can see where maybe they weren't regular voters in the past. On the other hand, Trump really took this state in a former Democrat stronghold of Macomb county, which is filled with workers in the auto industry. They don't fit the mold in this article. Hillary should have carried them but she preferred to campaign with her Ivy League elites and on the issues they favor. Those don't go down well with union families. Neither will taking away the medical coverage that their unions fought hard for over the decades.
