I've been around internet forums for 20-plus years. Without exception, moderators degrade forums. Invariably, they censor based upon their own biases and idiosyncracies. People who pollute boards with repetitive drivel, as 64 does, end up either leaving or changing their posting styles, if left to the forum members. People who will get offended or turned off by some bad names aren't people who are going to stick around, regardless.
I've stopped visiting forums that are policed. They become duller and more captive to a particular group for whom "the rules" have been designed to insulate.
