as of right now, the US has ~19000 active cases. Of those, sixty-fucking-four are serious. That comes out to about 0.33%, and it has been stuck around 60 for a few days. Just ten days ago (Mar 10), the CFR was about 3.3%. Today, it is between 1.3-1.4%, and falling toward 1% each day, even though the amount of active cases keeps increasing daily (hello, more testing). The number of active cases can keep on rising all it wants. If the serious or critcial number stays low, and the CFR keeps dropping like it has, then this supposed overwhelming of the hospitals in this country will never materialize.
