would be deaths from such an occurrence, at this point, given our increased know, edge of treatment regimens and quickly expanding capabilities, even if it occurred, the numbers initially by the IC will be far, far lower than initially predicted. And even without the assumed social distancing, this virus is probably not nearly as deadly as we initially feared.
But it is still a serious infection, and we still need the data from the test kits recently shipped out so that we can ensure that the estimates were wrong rather than there being a large number of silent positive infections out there still brewing. (“Probably” is not good enough, we need to know definitively).
Social distancing should continue until we have that data, and it looks like next week might give us answers already.
Lance is not even slightly oriented in science or statistics. He doesn’t understand the significance of such a back pedaling by the Imperial College irrespective of whether distancing occurs or not. He simply heard this on CNN or some such sho, and is spewing it back without understanding. But it is unprecedented for the Imperial College to back away from their numbers, and it is a huge, huge embarrassment to say the least.
