That helps in politics, I guess. Any death after loosening restrictions can be held as blood on Trump's hands (or Cuomo's or Newsome's)...and if he doesn't loosen restrictions, then any economic harm can be held against him (or against Cuomo or Newsome or whatever), and perfect management of the crisis will result in some death and some economic harm (perhaps a lot in both cases), so it is the perfect political game.
But, maybe we should all go back to talking about lowering the curve, and evaluate whether we succeeded. Lowering the curve doesn't require total lock down for 18 months...and it doesn't allow total freedom immediately because this is a hoax/ploy...but it is an ongoing judgement call as to when it is reasonable to go outside again.
We were just talking to my kids about working again. We are in a low risk area, and the curve hasn't come half as high as feared...it has, effectively, been lowered in our area as far as I can tell. And aren't we all expected to get this at some point?...with most of us not having symptoms according to a few studies? My entire family has been honoring the stay at home orders. My kids have jobs with "essential" businesses that employ strict contact and cleaning and protective procedures...but they have taken 2 weeks off during the spike/rising period. When is it reasonable to let them work again??? Will there be blood on my hands if I don't restrict my kids to our home until June 2020?...until the election?...until June 2021? I don't think so. I think it is a judgement call. I'm leaning towards allowing my kids to work in a restricted environment, but not socializing, as the Hill Family Phase I, but I haven't yet decided...may let them stay home a few more weeks. Who knows what is right.
