I was careless in my terminology. I implied that "I would return to normal now if restrictions were eliminated" was the same as "we should eliminate restrictions now," and those two things are not the same.
The poll actually asked: "If there were no government restrictions and people were able to decide for themselves about being out in public, how soon would you return to your normal day-to-day activities?"
4% of Dems would return to normal activities now, but 44% of R's would do so.
I should not have tried to paraphrase it, because I failed to do so accurately.
But, I think the data point is still interesting if you ignore my phraseology. Only 4% of Dems would return to normal, but 44% of Republicans would...that is a huge difference in approach, and in letting the virus affect one's lifestyle, just on party affiliation alone.
