antivaxers. I really mean that. In general, the board liberals grasp of science, statistics, and data is worse than the antivaxers with which I've had to deal, and unlike the antivaxers who only want their decisions to apply to their own children, these buffoons wnat them to apply to everybody in society - even the low risk population.
My discussion with the mice here about that study deceitfully misrepresented by the Washington Post Mortem To Journalism was eye opening. The lack of basic science background with which to engage in an intelligent discussion is an embarrassment to our educational system. The lack of critical thinking was equally stunning.
I don't mind at all if people disagree. I also don't mind if people aren't educated well enough or are not smart enough to understand concepts and see obvious fallacies. But I DO mind these same ignorant people pretending to be experts, pretending to understand better than people who actually DO understand, and pretending that their thimble inaccurate information that they were fed on the subject is the final word.
Now, to reiterate (because i have to do so) - regarding that topic of Chloroquine - we need to wait for the prospective randomized trial which should be out by July. You don't "win" the argument if the drug doesn't work (in fact, as an American who wants a treatment and doesn't want to give your remaining money to pharmaceutical companies, you actually lose). I don't know what it will find. but i am enough of a scientist to want to conduct the trial without your political bullshit skewing the results or preventing the trial from being completed.
