There was a study, maybe 15 years ago: They sent the exact same resumes around to different companies, and the "Johns" and "Mikes" got many more call backs than odd, rare or created names. Give your kid a chance. They can always pick a nickname (like "Ned") if they want to be cool, but put an ordinary, mundane, lame name on their birth certificate. They will thank you later. Don't try to make your life cooler by trying to pick a cool name for your kid. That's almost as bad as a college administrator choosing modern architecture for their next building.
