Our neighbor across the street was one of those orphans in Russia/Eastern Europe left in one of those massive oprphanages where there's little human contact and so forth. She was adopted by a couple over here, two college profs, and they gave her up when they couldn't handle her. I have a problem when people do this with pets, forget about children. Fortunately, a friend of mine and his wife took her in and helped guide her to a point that she's employed and even got married last year and now has a child. I know how tough it can be with a kid with special needs, but I know I couldn't live with myself.
