Everyone who is in office right now should do their constitutional duty regarding what is happening now. That includes Trump. That includes McConnell.
The Constitution requires that the president and the Senate be in substantial alignment for SCOTUS justices. That wasn't the case with Garland. That is the case now. This is right and proper. This is what the Constitution requires.
I understand that you will argue against the Constitution, as you would do in many other instances. You care about power more than you care about anything else. We all see that.
Do some research. SCOTUS nominees are commonly opposed by Senates of different parties, and commonly confirmed by Senates of common party with the President.
Having said all that, I'm not convinced there are enough GOP senators willing to do their duty. We shall see.
