The debate is all about how much regulation and repair is warranted for the all-too-familiar "collateral damages" wrought by Capitalism. There will always be a debate on this because our population represents a spectrum of conservatives and liberals...this is totally natural. Accusing one side of the spectrum of something that isn't true doesn't help us achieve progress.
Now, as far as the pandemic is concerned, since it is impossible to know exactly who all the 'at risk' people are, nor assure that every one of them will be inoculated, the path you recommend ends very quickly. Your admonition to get vaccinated is correct, but until we have verification that 70%+ of the population is vaccinated, along with robust testing/contact tracing in place, we'll need 'controls' on activities.
