A pardon is an act of mercy for the contrite petitioner who deserves forgiveness.

Although every President has granted questionable pardons for a handful of persons, the overwhelming number of cases involve petitioners who had long ago served their sentences, rebuilt their lives, and were remorseful for their wrongdoing. In all cases, the petitions were thoroughly vetted by DOJ.

Trump is the first President to use his pardon power in a corrupt manner, rewarding friends, sycophants, and those who can hurt him re his own wrongdoing.

Disgraceful.

The American Dream belongs to all of us. — Kamala Harris
