The Right used to speak in terms of right and wrong...of good and bad...of absolutes...absolutes that came from religion, for example. I'm talking decades ago. Bush started to put an end to this.
Now, the Left speaks in terms of right and wrong...of absolutes that must be complied with. From their perspective, it is not a debate of equally viable left versus right positions in American politics. Instead, it is a debate of the correct left versus the less correct right. Why would you want to cross the aisle to compromise with someone who is a less-enlightened rube? That would be bad for everyone, even the rube. It is far better to impose your left-enlightened will upon them, for they (the Right) do not have a proper understanding of good and bad like the Left has. Only the Left really understands what "good" is now. So, it is actually in the best interests of the rubes that they be disenfranchised.
I'm sure the rubes will just accept this, or course.
