On the Football Board there is a shared vision. To see the Irish football team succeed. There may be different ideas on how to get there but there is a commonality of vision.
The Open Forum has no shared vision. That's just fine but the problem here is this used to be a place of where differing ideas were offered, considered and debated (rarely resolved, but respectfully debated). More recently it's become a place where debate is non-existent. People are entrenched in their foxholes and "the other side" is too. Honestly, start any political thread and before they say anything I can tell you on which side of the argument jim, Frank, Baron, lil' baron, Chris, conor or Tampa et al will fall. And then the usual tag-along cheerleaders offer their support of "their guy" or insult "not their guy". It's the same every day.
The only really interesting discussions these days are the non-political ones. Movies, music, non-political newsy stuff. The rest is just mind-numbing.
