"Transgender women should be allowed to compete in women’s athletics, so long as these individuals can show that they’ve mitigated the athletic advantages that come with male puberty."
Both she and Donna De Varona are on the same page...they are part of the same advocacy organization...i.e. "Women's Sports Policy Working Group"...they care about both the 'cisgender' AND 'transgender' swimmers.
Having been a competitive swimmer myself, I can appreciate the advantage a post-pubescent transgender swimmer can have after growing much taller and stronger than her competitors...but how to "level" the water in the pool is not at all that easy to determine...but it should be attempted...as opposed to a blanket "not in my pool" attitude...these are real people who deserve consideration.
