swimming...she is without doubt physically superior to the cisgender girls due to "transitioning" after puberty...but I also don't approve of shutting the door on ever allowing transgender girls to compete in any sport, including swimming, which is exactly what Donna De Varona and Nancy Hogshead-Makar have said...i.e. efforts need to be put forth that establish verifiable conditions under which there is no unfair advantage given to the transgender girls...IMO, and I believe in De Varona's and Hogshead-Makar's...it can be done...most likely when dealing with pre-pubescent boys who are transitioning...please re-read my posts and the links to Donna De Varona as well as Nancy Hogshead-Makar...none of us is, or has been, advocating for unfair competitions.
btw, your "political gain" comment is your own fabrication...all that I and others are attempting to do is provide assistance to a small, but currently ostracized group of people...if you want to persist in that train of thought, just remember that the "Special Olympics" were started by Eunice (Kennedy) Shriver for no other reason than deep empathy for those children...She just happened to come from a very "Liberal" family and wasn't 'fishing for votes'...so it is with this issue...you need to flat out remove that "Filter" of yours...it's damaging your thought process.
The vignette I shared was intended to show how accepting people can and should be of transgender persons, provided that the proper perspective is achieved. To simply reject the possibility of that group ever joining with women in competition sets a precedent that perpetuates a negative stereotype ripe for bullying and discrimination...For me, the same compassion I felt for Billy exists today...don't try to re-write my own history.
