If you really wanted to "provide assistance to a small, but currently ostracized group of people," you would embrace science, and show some compassion to them by encouraging them to seek treatment, and stop using them as a political pawn. And, you would work to make those doing the ostracizing to be more compassionate through your example. But, you don't do that. I encourage you to do so.
You said: "...if you want to persist in that train of thought, just remember that the "Special Olympics" were started by Eunice (Kennedy) Shriver for no other reason than deep empathy for those children." The Left would destroy that empathy by letting able-bodied and able-minded individuals compete in the Special Olympics, just like you are destroying women's sports by letting men compete against them. We have women's leagues for fairness to all. The Left wants to destroy fairness by allowing exceptions to that.
You can't pretend that the Left is not making this political. They are using it to divide people, and mislead their voters into thinking they are doing good, when they are not.
Your analogy shows how you misunderstand this issue. My analogy shows how the Left is destroying fairness.
