Aside from the fact that the government is handing out money like candy to children, why has the gov't placed a limit on what vehicles qualify for the credit based on market saturation of that particular vehicle? As of 2019, no Tesla model qualifies for the credit due to that being the market leader in full EVs. If you want to settle for a Chevy, Ford, etc.. you can still get the full $7500 credit, but if a particular model has a larger volume of sales, it gets the axe in terms of being able to take advantage of a tax credit. If the gov't was really as concerned about climate change and getting people away from oil, they would allow the credit regardless of sales volumes. Maybe most people want a Tesla because it is the best one out there.
