….and I do not forget the horror that the Ukrainians are now enduring nor their superb fighting skills and determination.
Warfare will change a lot after this. This reminds me of Desert Storm level evolution of warfare.
The Russians came in with massive 40 million dollar tanks, and expensive 100 million dollar fighters, and even a multibillion dollar destroyer. And these were destroyed by basically toys made in the US. Even with the egregious spending reputation of the Pentagon, the switchblade drone weapon that keeps wiping out Russian generals and tanks and artillery costs about 6 thousand dollars……that means it could probably be cobbled together at Best Buy for a few hundred dollars if you had the explosives. Stingers have kept the Russians from exerting full control of the skies as well.
Russia has already lost this war financially, and it has now committed 85% of its entire military force towards the Ukraine. The face of warfare will change over this.
A second thought is….absent nuclear threat and not wanting to take on the cost of the world’s newest 3rd world nation, China or could literally drive into Moscow right now.
A third comment - an unexpected good surprise of this is the very ominous signal that is being sent to China about trying to occupy a large area with determined, nationalistic people. I think Putin’s nightmare has to be making Xi rethink his plans about Taiwan.
