In a 9 figures revenue company (or less), core values are neutral regarding the bullshit. If you are effective for the company, you can wear a unicorn suit and engage in pagan worship and brag about inserting your penis into the wrong hole...or you could raise a conservative family and attend Mass every Sunday...who the hell cared as long as you were effective for the company? No one in management cares. Everyone is treated equally. All types of efficient workers are welcome to continue working. Inefficient workers are fired. All regardless of race or creed or whatever. It is about efficiency.
But, an 11 figure revenue company, the core values become all about the unicorns and the wrong hole sex. I guess when you have that much revenue, you have more room for bullshit, and your shareholders tolerate the bullshit.
So, it is actually a big deal for Exxon to stand up for equality like this. Their shareholders should be happy about that, because treating people based on the content of their character (rather than the color of their skin or the type of sex partner they enjoy) makes for an efficient company.
