I like it because I get to see who has a sense of humor - like tonight Steve Doocy was the butt end of some pretty
harsh humor - he laughed and went with it. Good for him. I think he's the horse's ass, but he gets huge marks for being
there and rolling with the jokes. FOX TV was the butt end of some very fierce humor, and the execs didn't roll with the
jokes - they sat arms folded with sour faces glaring at the comedian and at Biden. But guess what? MSNBC, CBS,
CNN, NPR, NYTimes, WoPo all had much more as far as harsh humor and their execs all laughed and took it in stride
as good sports.
You can tell the partisanship of the news orgs and journalists by their ability to laugh or refusal to laugh and that's
important to see.
Biden laughed all night long. He had a few digs in on his own admin. as well with having a little fun with the silliness
by certain media groups who disparage his age and his missteps but unlike the former guy, he understands why
he's there and the reason for an honest and forthright press in America and across the globe. He knows histories
of nations, diplomacy, and the failures of governments who silence journalism.
It's important in my view to celebrate what makes us a great nation - freedom of speech, freedom to congregate,
freedom to ask questions and demand of our government its fullest attention and honesty. We in America are very
fortunate and we forget how good we have it.
It's sad when we need a South African born comedian to point out to us how great we have it in America, that something
we have in a strong press but that something we have forgotten for most of our lives.
So, I watch it to celebrate one of the greatest treasures this life can know - a free press.
