question is with the decline in religions (Catholic) how is it that it has more reach in our gov't. Our local gov't's and the lay of the land.
The questioning of a candidate's faith associations is of such great importance when interviewing them and not on their abilities -
Judge Jackson in particular, the comments on this board about not
being Catholic enough or in name only, the cafeteria kind. The constant barrage of pejoratives associated with not being enough of a Christian and so on.
It's in our politics and with great importance all the time.

PS: there are 7 of 9 including Gorsuch who are Catholic on the Supreme court today. Kavanaugh, Alito, Barrett, Thomas, Roberts, and Sotomayer. Only one is
considered a left leaning. So no, of course not, the courts right leaning justices have no religion at all and were not placed there knowing the faith they follow.
