many drawbacks that the people of California didn't like. There seems to have been deception by the corporation
heading the Poseidon project and that didn't go over well with people. The proposed building site is in an environmentally
sensitive area and along a fault line (but isn't everything in Cali built on a fault line?).
I don't believe the people of California disagree with having a desalinization plant for water as there are several
water facilities doing so all ready in California, they just don't want to
have their costs go up. It is cited that citizens costs would go up 3 - 6 $ a month but that cost is likely the low end of what
they will be charged. Also, it is a foreign company wanting to build the plant - somewhat of a red-herring but why not
the State build it and run it? Kinda keep it in the family. (It's China-town, Jake)
The biggest take-away was this ...
"But building this plant in Huntington Beach, he said, would be “the wrong project in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
I don't know why it would be the wrong time as it is well known, LA and Cali are in for a dry future for (probably) ever
with Climate Change doing its worst.
It reminds of Trump's hate for wind turbines and his bogus reasoning for his hate although the arguments are
almost reasonable. It sounds like the company didn't have any other ideas for locations in mind either.
