varied than those behind Assault Weapon mass shootings...basically, from my POV, it's fundamentally due to severe poverty and growing hopelessness, exacerbated by the upheavals caused by COVID (lost jobs..inability to let kids gather in safe programs, etc.)...I'd also say that while every big city saw sharp increases in violence, Mayor Lightfoot...while having her heart in the right place...did the politically expedient thing in spending money on Policing, rather than those root causes...but, for a truly insightful summary, check out the linked article.
The Uvalde, Texas...Parkland, Florida...Newtown, CT...etc., mass shootings are a much different breed of gun violence with different root causes...they are also unique in the targeted victims and the common manner in which the tragedies were carried out...therefore, the greater attention of national media.
Hopefully, you are not at all pleased to see any of it, and are ready and willing to do whatever you can to see that such statistics are dramatically reduced...right?...would like to hear your suggestions for improvement...seriously.
