(and those around him) know that if he persists in attacking Ukraine he/Russia will indeed be "Humiliated", while at the same time providing an opportunity for Ukraine to use those comments and double-down on its resolve to fight on...thus underscoring the hopelessness of Putin's War and his eventual "Humiliation"...btw, that term has been used by Macron before (see linked article).
As for France's actions thus far, here is an excerpt from the linked article...
"France has already sent Caesar howitzers, MILAN anti-tank guided missiles, and Mistral anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine. In May, Macron told Zelenskyy that arms deliveries to the war-torn country would intensify."
Macron is no "Vichy" wannabe and he is obviously in communication with Zelensky...but he and Germany's Scholz are perhaps the lone EU leaders who are able to get Putin to pick up his phone...the ability to communicate in that direction is always a good thing.
Personally, I don't believe Putin is mentally capable of reaching a negotiated settlement with Ukraine and such statements from Macron are meant more for those in Russia with the ability to remove Putin and thus be the ones to actually negotiate...the sooner that happens, the sooner the world returns to 'normal'...
