The data that this article is using to defend this guy's policies isn't very useful. It completely ignores the elevated crime in the area of theft and burglary driven by his open announcement that these crimes will go unprosecuted. The resulting looting is a direct consequence.

A drugged-up 17-year-old stole a car and ran over a mother and an 8-month-old. Only by sheer luck were they not both killed, along with anyone else. His punishment was 5-7 months in a juvenile probation camp.
A vile repeat-offending sub-human who assaulted a 10-year-old in a restaurant bathroom was given 2 years of probation with no requirement to register on the standard public lists.
And a killer who executed someone in cold blood and given 50 years in prison was set free under the guise of him being a "child" when it happened.
