picture for DJT in 2024, IMO...while there is no question that the majority of Republicans still have nice things to say about him, his candidacy is not a foregone conclusion...
a) Trump lost the popular vote by 3M (2016)...then 7M (2020)...and hasn't done anything since 2020 to inspire a reversal of that trend
b) Trump's Coup Attempt is now front and center...the evidence of his guilt is solidifying as the Jan. 6th hearings proceed, thus putting a dark cloud over his head that won't go away
c) The Washington Examiner's unequivocal Editorial is IMO a bombshell repudiation of his candidacy and not likely to be the only one...
d) The GOP has alternatives, who would gladly step into the breach.
So, while Trump has strong appeal among MAGA's...he doesn't own all Republicans...and certainly not the remainder of the electorate who are needed in a national race. The very real problem for the GOP now is that there is no way Trump does the "Right Thing" and steps aside...it's just not in a malignant narcissist's nature...must be a lot of head scratching going on right now in the RNC.
