The court's opinion did not say that abortion was illegal, it did not say that abortion was legal, what it did say was that there is nothing in the Constitution that either supports or denies abortion. Thereby, it is a matter for the states pursuant to the 10th Amendment or the congress.
I am not going to argue the policy issue; the SCOTUS does not and cannot make policy, but the fact is that one party holds the power of two of the three equal branches and that party holds the presidency, the house and the senate.
I think his calling out the SCOTUS as making bad policy is as much as calling for insurrection in that the SCOTUS is a co-equal branch of government. He is saying that the SCOTUS has done something that it does not have the power or authority to perform, that is a far cry from our system and setting policy is not within the realm of the SCOTUS.
