Don't get me wrong. Any death is sad, and I will admit that I am moved when others express their sadness. When I see someone in line, interviewed, who is emotional but eloquent, you can't help but be moved. I feel for them because they feel that way...but not because she was the queen. Sure, QEII seems to have been a reasonable monarch (to the extent monarchs can be reasonable).
But, I just don't get why Americans would care about her more than other monarchs or world leaders. Americans died so we wouldn't have to worry about English royalty. I have never been a royal watcher before, and I don't get why an American would care about the queen or king of England more than your average human being.
Maybe if you have ties to England? My relatives came to the colonies from England before the American Revolution. And my relatives that came to the US after the American Revolution either fought against the English before coming, or had no ties to England. So, I guess you two have stronger ties to England than I do.
