Gibbs needs to spend a lot of time on dribbling drills. He struggles with his off-hand and keeping the dribble alive through traffic. He also needs to a pull-up jumper off the dribble. He tends to either be shooting a three or dribbling into the lane and, because he's a below-the-basket player, throwing up off-balance shots that usually get blocked.
Plenty of good coaching by Brey. As usual, good sets coming off of times-out and switches to zone on defense that helped the team cut the deficit. He's simply looking for a rotation right now without out his two best guys.
The worst thing that can happen for Harvey is to hesitate on his shot. It will come. He didn't do the job he did last game on the boards or on defense, though.
Dino Gaudio did the best color commentary I've heard all year. That's the value in having a coach who can be clear and articulate in the booth. At one point, Gibbs or someone fed the ball into Geben, who was guarded straight-up, Geben pivoted into the lane for a baby hook and missed from 9/10 feet. Gaudio instantly pointed out that Geben isn't quick and needs to set up much deeper in on the block. Absolutely correct, but the kind of the thing that commentators rarely comment upon. He was pointing things like that out all night.
Nice effort by Mooney. I expect he or Burns to benefit most from the absences.
For all the talk from teammates and videos of Pflueger being the best leaper on the team, he just doesn't show it in games and usually will try to flip in a layup, instead. I don't think that's going to change. He contributes a lot to the team, but it's going to be tough if he's offensive option #2 during this stretch.
