I've been reading some posts below where people think there is no hope for the immediate future given the current roster, which will be back in its entirety next year.
Players don't remain stagnant from year to year. Mike Brey has demonstrated an ability to get these guys to improve their play throughout their Notre Dame careers. Someone pointed out the "young" argument doesn't fly as Duke's team is also young. Yes, but they have NBA-ready players; Notre Dame doesn't and basically never does as freshman. But Brey does put players in the NBA. I never thought Pat Connaughton would play in the NBA, but there he is.
This team has looked good at times: victory over Purdue, hanging with UVA, playing even with Duke the last 30 minutes of the game, and other examples. So they're close but not over the hump this year. Next year should show great improvement, and as I said below, I can see a #6 seed or better in the NCAA tourney.
