I remember when Pat Connaughton called him "the" best. Anyway, he's brilliant at getting a lot out of his teams, far more than their individual talent. The only quibble I have with his coaching is once he gets a comfortable lead, he goes into a shell offensively and 9 times out of 10 (providing the other team is decent), the other team comes back and makes it a game. He did that against the undefeated Kentucky team when ND had a 61-56 lead and the Wildcats were on the ropes. Then the predictable burn-the-clock strategy and it played perfectly into Kentucky's hands.
