would have no bearing as it would only show 24 yrs in the Marine Corps (with some volunteer work coaching youth football and basketball).
But had I been the one to make the decisions, they would have looked like this:
-Holtz would have been begged to reconsider and stay on (he would have then made a NC run in '98)
-Had he refused, Davie may have been given a courtesy interview but would have never actually been considered for the job as he had no HC experience
-Would have hired a head coach who had clean background and preferably at least 70* D1 wins as a HC (waivable) with a .600 or better win percentage in D1, who had offensive or defensive coordinator experience and believed in everything else being build off the foundation of running the ball, playing great defense, and having sound special teams
-Had that guy not worked out and O'Leary been available I would have hired him. When the resume thing came up I would have sucked it up and swallowed the pill and kept him on, with an agreed upon public reprimand.
-Because he would have stayed on, there would have never been a ty situation and the face we lost by keeping someone who lied on a resume 25 yrs ago would have been saved by not being labeled as racist for firing ty
-Had O'Leary not worked out (which I really believe he would have) Weis would have never been considered, not at all. If Kelly was available, I might have hired him, but Patterson and Petersen would have also been considered
-Had Kelly been hired, after he interviewed with NFL and had all the blunders in 13 and 14, I would have let him go
-At that point I would have set about to hire a new guy by the same criteria mentioned above after Holtz left
