His tactics haven't changed, his targets have. He doesn't chase higher profile 'long shots' as much as he used to but focuses on guys who fit and he has a good chance of getting. Quite frankly, I don't think Brey (and I think he is a excellent fit for ND and am happy to have him as coach) would know what to do with a true star player.
Brey has defined the style of play he wants and he recruits players to that scheme. Thus, as his players progress though his system, it becomes 'plug and play' so you don't see the ups and downs based on graduation. For example, when Vasturia graduates, he will have a guy ready for that role. When Farrell graduates, he will have a guy ready for that role, etc etc. In essence, ND has become a Wisconsin-like program that recruits 2nd tier players that fit into a less sexy offensive system but gets them to perform at a high level within it.
