Most folks thought that Tenuta was decent after we crushed Colin Kaepernick and his Nevada team, but that turned out to be fools gold. Maybe his "jailbreak blitz every down" strategy can work with a team that has a gifted defensive line, and linebackers who can shoot the gap effectively, but with our personnel it certainly wasn't a good strategy, and our defensive backs were left hung out to dry. To make things worse, Tenuta never altered his defensive philosophy, despite having cost us several games in 2009.
Van Gorder was the same way, that he wouldn't make any adjustments to his scheme.
