Anyone could make that argument, i.e., "when I chose Memphis ( or pick any such school), I didn't know I would be this good and I have a chance at a pro career if I get better coaching at Alabama," etc, etc, etc
And after all, he knew when he chose Navy what the end game was. Navy didn't "allow' the transfer for football reasons. I doubt Navy cares why he left. The kid's commitment to a military career begins in year 3. Now he doesn't have one.
But the whole waiver thing is a big joke anyway. NCAA follows no real logic on decisions.
